Overview
U.S. Silica's Dubberly plant produces fine grain silica from a mineral resource known as the "Sparta" Formation. The Sparta consists primarily of loose, unconsolidated, fine to coarse, light-colored sand intermingled with light-colored clays, which is processed for the glass, chemical, roofing, brick and foundry industries.
History
Dresser Industries carried out an extensive exploration program during the summer of 1970, which resulted in the discovery of the South Dubberly deposit. They broke ground on the plant in 1971 and delivered their first shipment of glass sand in December 1972. Dresser Industries operated the facility until it was purchased by Ottawa Silica Company in July 1981, which merged into the U.S. Silica family in 1987.
Community
The Dubberly employees strive to be exemplary members of their community and to preserve the environment in which they operate. Their efforts include land reclamation and recycling process water. Additionally, employees of Dubberly volunteer through local fire departments, youth activities and local service organizations.

Driving Directions
From I-20
Exit Interstate 20 at Exit 52 onto LA 532. Travel South on LA 532 to the railroad tracks. Cross tracks and go to stop sign. Turn left at stop sign onto Sand Plant Road. Travel East on Sand Plant Road to the U.S. Silica sign. Turn right onto Sand Plant Cut-Off Road to the plant. Distance from I-20 to the plant is about 6-7 miles.
From US 371 North
Turn right onto LA 531 in Heflin, LA go 1.2 miles to railroad tracks and stop sign. Continue straight on 531 for 2.4 miles to stop sign, turn left, go 100 yards, turn right onto Central School Road (WP 171) go 2.3 miles, turn left on Sand Plant Road (WP 165) go 2.2 miles. Turn left, right past power station onto Sand Plant Cut-Off Road, 1 mile to plant.
