Sustainability, community support evident at each of 13 sand mining facilities
Frederick, MD, July 11, 2012 – U.S. Silica Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: SLCA) today released its second annual Sustainability Report – “Above and Beyond” – the result of a year-long strategic assessment of progress toward the company’s 2017 sustainability goals.
U.S. Silica operates 13 surface sand mining facilities that produce raw materials for use in domestic energy sources, including oil and natural gas, wind and solar power. The company also provides processed and engineered materials for industrial and specialty products such as glass, durable paints and building materials.
Chief Executive Officer and President, Bryan Shinn, noted that “corporate responsibility to our communities and stewardship of the land so integral to our business are over-riding goals for us– and have been for more than a century.” Being environmentally conscious, he added, “is important for all our stakeholders – employees, communities and customers, as well as investors.”
